CARING FOR YOUR JEWELRY

At Vardui Kara, we aim to bring beauty and art into our clients’ daily lives. Our jewelry is crafted to last a lifetime and like all jewelry, should be treated with love and care. We believe that fine jewelry should be cherished and enjoyed every time you put it on. That it should become a family heirloom. In order to ensure that your jewelry will last for generations, there are some basic guidelines to keep in mind:

  • Your jewelry does not mind waiting for you to be done getting ready, so it should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.
  • Cosmetics, perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays can give your jewelry allergies, so apply them to areas where your jewelry will not touch them.

  • Jewelry does not like to get wet, so please refrain from taking showers or taking a dip in the pool with it. Your jewelry can get a bad reaction from chlorinated water, which might cause structural damage and color change.

  • Regardless of the purchasing price, dainty jewelry that looks delicate is delicate.

  • Just as the sun’s harmful rays can damage our skin, they can affect gemstones’ color and durability. Some gems can darken overtime when exposed to too much light, while others can fade.

  • Don’t bling yourself out while performing chores. Please…

  • Your jewelry is already in great shape; so don’t take it with you to the gym, hot yoga, or hiking.

  • Jewelry needs its beauty rest too, so remove it and place it into a pouch before you sleep.

  • When traveling together, always store your jewelry in separate pouches because gemstones will scratch gold, silver, and platinum, not to mention, other kinds of gemstones.

  • Wear and show off your jewelry. Just do it with love and care!

CLEANING YOUR JEWELRY

Cleaning your fine jewelry regularly will ensure its beauty and longevity. The safest cleaning methods are also the easiest.

Metals: Gold, Platinum, & Silver

Most gold, platinum, and silver jewelry can be cleaned in a warm non-detergent soap and water solution using a very soft brush. Be sure to rinse the jewelry in warm water after such cleaning. Then, dry and buff the jewelry using a soft cloth.

Sterling Silver jewelry naturally tarnishes, especially when exposed to salty air. For high-polished silver jewelry, we recommend using a special silver cleaning cloth to restore its shiny surface.

Black Rhodium/Plated Jewelry:

Black Rhodium is a type of plating that will inevitably wear off over time. Black Rhodium jewelry should be kept far from materials containing sulfur, such as, leather, rubber, chlorine, and perspiration. Lotions, perfumes, and oils can cause the plating to wear off as well.

It is not advisable to polish, wipe, or use any dip style cleaning products for your black rhodium-plated jewelry.

If you would like to re-plate your Vardui Kara jewelry, please contact us.

CARING FOR YOUR WEDDING / ENGAGEMENT RING:

First and foremost, congratulations!!! You will probably be wearing your diamond ring on a daily basis, and believe it or not, it should be cleaned about every 1-2 weeks. Don’t worry; this is very easy to do.

Most rings made of gold, platinum, silver, diamond, sapphires, and rubies can be cleaned by placing your ring in a dish of warm water with a few drops of non-detergent soap. Soak your ring for 5-10 minutes. Follow by gently cleaning around the stone settings and under the setting as well by using a very soft toothbrush.
